Privacy policy

At hipotec.app, transparency comes first. This page explains what data we use, why we use it, and where it is stored.

1) Data we process

  • Data you enter in the tools: price, income, savings, taxes, participants, extra payments, and mortgage conditions.
  • No account is required. The hosting platform receives the technical data normally included in a web request to serve the app.

2) Why we use it

  • To calculate monthly payments, amortization, total cost, and participant split.
  • To persist your local state so scenarios are not lost on refresh.
  • To generate, only when requested, links containing scenario data so you can share it.

3) Where it is stored

  • Your simulations are saved in your browser localStorage.
  • Your analytics choice is stored as hipotec.analytics.consent. If accepted, PostHog also stores a pseudonymous identifier and its preferences in localStorage, not cookies. We do not sell this data.

4) Product analytics (PostHog)

  • Analytics is off by default. PostHog starts only when the deployment has a key and you have explicitly allowed analytics.
  • If allowed, manual action events and selected scenario data such as mortgage type, price, and participant count are sent through /ingest to our EU PostHog project. There is no autocapture or session recording; URL queries and fragments are removed, and Do Not Track is respected.

Analytics preference

Allowing stores explicit permission and reloads the page. Disabling stores your refusal and reloads to stop capture.

Do Not Track takes precedence even after analytics is allowed.

5) Chrome extension

  • The extension only runs on domains defined in its manifest to add quick access to the simulator.
  • Core mortgage calculations still run in hipotec.app, not on external servers.

6) Your rights

  • You can disable analytics here. Clearing this site's browser data removes simulations, consent, and local identifiers.
